Where is Harley’s Animal Haven located?
Harley’s Animal Haven is a foster-based rescue, meaning our animals are in foster homes all across the state of Connecticut. At this time, we do not have a central facility. We are ALWAYS looking for more fosters! If you are interested in fostering, please apply here.
I want to help but I can’t foster or adopt at this time. How else can I support your rescue?
There are many ways to support our rescue besides fostering or adopting an animal. Please visit our Support page for several options!
What kind of animals do you help?
We help every kind of animal—warm or cold-blooded, furred, feathered or scaled. We believe that every creature deserves a fair chance at safety, compassion, good health and well-being.
Is Harley’s Animal Haven a 501(c)(3) organization?
Yes, Harley’s Animal Haven is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the state of Connecticut, meaning all donations not only go directly toward the care of our rescue animals, but are also tax-deductible. Our rescue makes absolutely no profits from donors or fundraisers.
Can businesses or groups partner with you?
Yes! We welcome partnerships, sponsorships, and donation drives. Please contact us for details.
What is the process to adopt?
If you wish to adopt an animal from Harley’s Animal Haven, the first step is to submit an application by visiting our Apply page. Once your application is submitted and reviewed, we will contact you for a phone interview. If you are approved to adopt, you will be able to schedule a meet-and-greet and coordinate arrangements to adopt your new best friend!
Our application requires personal references and a veterinary reference. We highly recommend contacting your references and letting them know to expect to hear from our rescue, which often helps speed up the application process.
Please allow us 5-7 days to process your application. If it has been more than a week and you still have not heard an update on your application, feel free to reach out to us at harleysanimalhavenapplicants@outlook.com.
Can I adopt an animal from Harley’s Animal Haven if I live out of state?
The short answer is yes! We will adopt to approved applicants in surrounding states.
I see that some animals are listed as a Foster-to-Adopt. What does this mean?
Because Harley’s Animal Haven is dedicated to the health and wellness of our rescue animals, we often take in animals that come with unique circumstances. Some animals may have health conditions that require ongoing treatment, and must remain under the care of a veterinary professional. For this reason, those animals will remain under the ownership of Harley’s until they are fully cleared for adoption. This means you can still bring the animal home once they are available, but you will be considered a foster until ownership is transferred.
To be eligible to our Foster-to-Adopt program, you must have an approved adoption application (not a foster application.)
Our Foster-To-Adopt program is different than temporarily fostering an adoptable animal. Temporary/long-term fosters are provided with food, litter and all necessary supplies, while Fosters-to-Adopt are responsible for covering the food and other supplies for their future animal.
What are your adoption fees?
Our adoption fees vary depending on the age, species and needs of the animal. Below is a reference guide to our adoption fees:
